I personally don't know japanese fluently, I know some but its not much
I think the key is to learn the writing language first, like katakana and hiragana I think it's much more easier to learn this way, and frankly..it's the only way to start learning a language, talking the language is good but i dont think you'll get far with only that i guess..
at least thats what i've been told..
even though im not fluent in japanese and not know a lot of the language, i can still understand some of different songs lyrics and so on, its cool when you suddenly understand what they're singing when before you didnt understand anything =D

its just hot dogs, but its better than nothing i guess
